Special Extended DVD Edition / Collector’s DVD Gift Set

An Extended DVD Edition Platinum Edition Collector’s Gift Set was issued for each individual film. Different premium collectibles and special DVD were packaged with each set. A limited number of sets were produced.

The presentation boxes themselves were works of art, with cellophane windows on three sides and the top, and significant artwork, concept art, and/or symbols of Middle-earth. Box size: 8″ wide x 8″ high x 6″ deep.

The Fellowship of the Ring

Exclusive Sideshow/Weta Collectible. Polystone bookends of The Argonath, sculpted by the film’s visual effects artists and produced by Sideshow Weta.

Details from Gift Box. There is an intriguing concept art composite on the back panel of the box,featuring Sam carrying Frodo up on Mt. Doom, with Gollum about to attack, and a Fell Beast watching.

Exclusive Sideshow/Weta Collectible. “Richly detailed”Minas Tirith keepsake box, based on artwork by Alan Lee. The statue lifts from the base to reveal the keepsake compartment.

Bonus DVD. Howard Shore: Creating “The Lord of The Ring” Symphony – A Composer’s Journey Through Middle-earth (52 minutes). Includes excerpts of live concert fotage, documentary commentary by three-time Academy Award®-winning composer Howard Shore, and the illustrations of Alan Lee and John Howe.
