Soundtracks with LOTR Films in Live Performances
This page explores Howard Shore’s soundtracks performed live with the LOTR films, using a full symphony orchestra and choir. As of 2010, the trilogy films have been performed at the Royal Albert Hall (UK) and Radio City Music Hall (US). Other international sites have also hosted the films with live performances of the soundtrack, and a multi-city tour in the U.S. for all three films was announced in June 2011 – “The Lord of the Rings in Concert” series.

Live Performances ~ Royal Albert Hall
These events presented high-definition theatrical editions of the film, with Howard Shore’s score performed live by over 200 or over 300 musicians, depending on which film. The performances featured the London Philharmonic Orchestra with Ludwig Wicki, Conductor, and choir members including from The London Voices and The London Oratory School Schola. Live Performances ~ Radio City Music Hall
The official website for performances of LOTR films at the Radio City Music Hall appears to be updated after each film. As of June 2011, the information posted was for The Two Towers, with the exception of a series of photos from The Fellowship of the Ring event. The site includes sections of Forewords/Welcomes (Howard Shore, Doug Adams, The Fan Committee), Artists (Howard Shore, Ludwig Wicki, The 21st Century Orchestra, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, The Dessoff Symphonic Choir, Kaitlyn Lusk), Info (Venue, Questions & Answers, Program Notes), Multimedia (Music, Video), Media Room, and Community.

The Lord of the Rings in Concert
The Lord of the Rings in Concert is a multi-city tour event for all three LOTR films. One film will be shown each year with live performances by full orchestra and choir:
